WHY ARSENAL TARGET NICOLAS TAGLIAFICO COULD BE PUSHING FOR PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER

Arsenal are looking to bolster their squad and Nicolas Tagliaifco has been touted as one of the names Unai Emery is tempted by

Nicolas Tagliafico will be set for a bumper pay day if he quits Ajax for Arsenal.

The full-back is set to remain in the Netherlands for one more year after helping Ajax on their stunning run to the Champions League semi-final.

But there is reportedly a huge incentive for him to leave Amsterdam and join the Premier League in the near future.

According to reports in the Netherlands, Tagliafico has a clause in his contract which says that if his release fee of £17.3million is met, he gets to split the money with the club.

Even if a deal goes through, Ajax will still make a huge profit on the £3.4million they spent on Tagliafico when they signed him from Argentinian side Independiente in January 2018.

Tagliafico is reportedly one of Arsenal’s top targets this summer as Unai Emery looks to bolster his struggling squad.

The Gunners missed out on the top four after a string of lacklustre defensive performances in their final five games of the Premier League season.

It means they will be resigned to another season without Champions League football unless they can win the Europa League against Chelsea later this month.

Tagliafico, however, would prefer a move to Serie A than England, according to his agent.

Ricardo Schlieper told FC Inter News: “Inter and Italian football are always attractive destinations for Argentine players.

“Let’s not forget, like it was once said, that we’re Italians who speak Spanish.

“Everything’s very familiar. It’s like being at home.

“Tagliafico has always been our priority for Italy, but in the most appropriate moment we will find the right place. We will see what happens.”
