Scouts watching teenager Silas Wamangituka every week as Barcelona, Fiorentina and Newcastle also interested
Liverpool are interested in signing a Paris striker – but he’s not one of Paris-Saint Germain’s stars.
Jurgen Klopp is reportedly set to join the race for teenager Silas Wamangituka, who has scored eight goals for Paris FC in Ligue 2 this season.
According to reports in France, scouts from Liverpool and Barcelona have been watching the 19-year-old.
Wamangituka, 19, has scored eight goals and provided one assist in 24 appearances to help Paris FC in their quest for promotion.
But according to Get French Football News, Liverpool could have a battle on their hands with the Paris club keen to keep hold of Wamangituka, while Newcastle and Fiorentina are also believed to be interested.
Asked specifically about interest from Liverpool and Barcelona in Wamangituka, Paris FC assistant manager Stéphane Gilli said: “Obviously it is the director of football who will be managing that situation, but clearly we would like to keep hold of him.
“It is true that there are a lot of scouts at the stadium every week, those clubs included, and many others.
“It is up to the club, the player and his agent to make the right choices. We want him to stay, but there is always that financial aspect, and he is a player who has a massive potential.
“He is a great lad who works hard though, and all this interest around him has not changed him. His mindset and behaviour have been very good.”
Gilli added: “We had originally taken him on trial so he could play for the reserves, but after 10 days we went to the club president and told him we had to sign him, because he has a lot of talent and the potential go very far.
“He has worked hard and made the most of his chances when we had problems offensively and our other options were not performing well.
“There are areas to improve, notably how he plays without the ball and his positioning, so there is still a lot to learn. But in terms of intrinsic attributes, he is a player who pretty much has it all – he is quick and is good technically.”
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp is also believed to be interested in a reunion with Bayern Munich goal machine Robert Lewandowski , who played under the Liverpool boss at Borussia Dortmund.
