Shukela Xpress: Chiefs go down to the Star of Africa!

Yooooooo bafethu, I’m writing my column with sadness and massively worried ngediski lethu (about our football),watching Amakhosi against Sundowns on the 19th November, I’ve realised ukuthi kusekude la siyakhona (where we’re going is still far).

Apart from being a massive club with the rich history and trendsetters, hai! Yesterday exposed the most important area yeKhosi, which is SCOUTING. My worry is if Khosi doesn’t have quality personnel with regards to playing staff, know that iBafana Bafana is going to suffer.

January is around the corner in terms of the transfer window period and obviously it calls for serious panel beating in their playing squad, if they want to turn amatafula (the table) upside down.

I’m sorry, Amakhosi are thinking ukuthi they can take iShort cut by not spending big kumarket and achieve their goal. Yes, one will argue ukuthi uStuart Baxter did it with less quality players, but the fact is lets refer and look at how he did, definitely not with Amakhosi’s identity or Culture. Bekufukuzwa.

Trust me the line-up he (Steve Komphela) started with izolo (yesterday), that was the best he had in his ammunition, hence at times he took longer to make a substitution. Only when he was forced by an unforeseen circumstance did he make it. I feel for him ungumqeqeshi omnandi cash cash.

He started with the same flexible structure of 3-5-2 that turns into 5-3-2 when in defensive phase, exactly the same setup he utilised ku Free State Stars in the Telkom knockout.

Obviously he’s applying this approach due to not having quality and pacey wingers, so it forces his fullbacks to do up and down on the wing, 50% defending and 50% attacking.

Itumeleng Khune started as usual, unfortunately his defence looked disorganised, hence they conceded 4 in 2 games. That’s very uncharacteristic of Khosi’s defence, it usually speaks to confidence, communication and understanding the principles of defending. Unfortunately as a leader he has to communicate with his defense better.

The back 3 of Eric Mathoho/Daniel Cardozo/Lorenzo Gordihno were seeing nightmares izolo (yesterday), they couldn’t deal with any form of attack thrown at them. Percy Tau was at Sandton City doing whatever he wanted to do, cause there were no cameras and security yokumgada, and another worry is our international player’s performance has been stagnant for the past 2 and a half years, no improvement whasoever in the likes of Mathoho.

Ramahlwe Mphahlele/Khumalo had a good game. Rama obviously wanted to prove to his previous employers ukuthi they made ijivE (a mistake) by not renewing his contract, he knows the goal he scored was an accident as he was crossing. For me, Khumalo ran away from iPressure that comes with big games, and he looked lathergic. He was lucky Anthony Laffor didn’t punish when he fell asleep and collided no Gordihno and got injured. But when you’re faking injuries, people can see it.A disciplined lifestyle will help him .

Willard Katsande, the less said the better. That was his worst game izolo (yesterday), and I think at times he needs to be reminded of his limitations. He gave away possession for Sundowns’ equaliser, and made a lot of errors in dangerous areas. He was also lucky not to concede ipenalty as he fouled uTau in the box. George Maluleka tried,  but Tiyani Mabunda did a good job on him. Players like Maluleka need the team to do well in order for them to shine. Shabba (Siphiwe Tshabalala) looked lost and the game was too fast for him. I never understood because, yes he doesn’t have the legs, but he is strong on the aspect of speed of the mind.

Lewis Macha, you can see ukuthi he was playing in a less competitive league in Mozambique. The toughness of PSL iyamhlula (is defeating him) and not he is not Khosi’s type of a player. As for Michelle Katsvairo, the only reason he was on the field was that he can go anywhere you send him to, akekho.

Edmore Chirambadare naye came in for Khumalo in the first half. He is happy to be playing for Khosi and nothing else. Bernard Parker is getting minutes because is loved by the coach, but absolutely no impact. For Keagen Buchanan, it is not the time right now boy, like uMaluleka they need a good environment.

Asazi bafethu Captain Chincha kumele asukume. Woza Wednesday .
