Shukela Xpress: Chiefs Held By Baroka FC

Shukela Xpress: Chiefs held by Baroka FC

Wow! It was evident in Wednesday the 2nd’s game ukuthi now we know why Amakhosi take some games to Durban, Polokwane and Cape Town. Fans, supporters and soccer lovers, will never disappoint. They will come in numbers in those provinces, they love Amakhosi.

But a worrying factor for me is, we are not giving them their money’s worth with the displays that we are giving. They leave the stadiums very disappointed and angry.

We all know football is a religion in this country and people use football to distress. It’s been years since we gave our football lovers good performances,we owe it to them bafethu.

Coming to the game, Baroka used Amakhosi’s approach against them, which is fundamental connection in terms of tactical discipline and compromising possession off the ball in order to stay disciplined, which meant Amakhosi would have more ball possession than usual, also Baroka played on position 2 which is to overload the centre and to try to catch Amakhosi with an offensive transition, which I believe gave them the point they came for.

This whole approach frustrated Chiefs from the onset, because they never had answer for it.They tried to generate the attack from the back but for me they looked like they were doing something new because there was no profit from it.

Komphela made 3 changes from the derby Masilela/Tshabalala and Manqele started in the space of Khumalo/Twala and Katsvairo.

Khune I give 8/10, again he made 2 quality saves and we are blessed La EMZANSI (in South Africa) to have him, you won’t believe at some stage, he even went up to take a standard situation, which is a good improvisation from him but exposes Chiefs ukuthi abana quality.

In defence was Mathoho/Gordihno, they were only tested on 1 or 2 occasions but Baroka had no serious poison to hurt them, I give them 6/10. Rama looked lathergic and didnt have a good game 5/10 for him, Masilela stuck to his primary job and to be fair he hasn’t been playing so he kept it simple, 6/10.

“Things need to get worse in order to get better”

Midfield, this is the area of concern for Khosi. It’s been years, Khosi are playing with just players and there is no wow-factor whatsoever. Katsande can only destroy and that’s it, when it comes to secondary phase which is to pass, short and long hai uyagodola! He tried to collect from the centrebacks to consolidate (turn and pass) but he played non-risk passes with no penetration, 6/10. Ekstein ilucky lengwenya, regular in this massive club and not performing, but still given ichance. Maybe it’s because they need ushukela player to excite the fans, but kudlalwa ngathi uyazi naye (they are playing with us) 4/10. Lebese is the same as Ekstein, I also think Komphela is not doing himself a favour by playing him week in week out. His mind is not in the game and it’s been years. He doesn’t grow and he’s been the same player, a 4/10 for him. Buchanan unfortunately Amakhosi are not playing well so it will be difficult to see the best kuye for now, but uzobarite trust me. Defended a lot yesterday 6/10, Shabba gave away possession and he looked lathergic naye, you would expect him to advance Chiefs attacks but the game swallowed him, 5/10.

Manqele, I’m sorry but the confidence shown in him by Komphela, hai it’s a waste of time. He has no mobility or causing treats to iopposition defence ufunani futhi, January window kuzofiwa, a 4/10 for him.

Twala/Katsvairo/Maluleka kodwa there was no impact trust me, good teams have good benches, but not iKhosi. Three Games without goals should give you imessage and a strong one.

Asazi Bafethu, next game  is Telkom knockout against Free State Stars at Moses Mabhida .

Marinating time.
